Embracing the Rule of Three, South American Dream Explores -- within the three main paintings, the narratives of critical activists and environmentalists in South America.
Cantuária’s vivid and colorful works are evidence of her versatility and investigations through various mediums and techniques, including painting, textile, and ceramics.
In appreciating rituals of liminality & the facility to tap into the subtexts of the energetic contributions we bring to conversations to better navigate our transcontextual and shapeshifting realities ~~ Marcela Cantuária (b. 1991, Rio de Janeiro) often portrays female figures who navigate regional, international, and social boundaries.
Join in a celebration of the opening in conversation with exhibition curator Jennifer Inacio as they discuss the creation of her first solo show in the United States, presenting only newly-commissioned works, and how these works fit into her larger practice.
The talk will also be live-streamed via YouTube Live and simultaneously interpreted into American Sign Language, Haitian Creole, and Spanish. Before and after the talk, mingle on the terrace to the sounds of the womxn of WAXY, a Miami-based all-women, all vinyl DJ collective.
