Tau My Relatives

The Caney Indigenous Spiritual Circle celebrated its annual Winter Solstice Ceremony in two separate locations this month. On Saturday Dec 20 we participated in the traditional Solstice rituals at the Council of Three Rivers American Indian Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. On the following Saturday, December 27 we celebrated the same Return To The Divine Womb ceremony at Women's Park in Miami, Florida.

Both ceremonies were powerful statements of our on-going commitment to maintain our sacred connection with our ancestors and the spirits of our Taino Tradition.

I know that many of the participants who attended the two ceremonies are not members of the Indigenous Caribbean Network but if any of our relatives who were present at either of these events happen to read this I request any comments or suggestions concerning this event. We also invite any and all comments from our friends here in the network who did not attend, and always remember that you are all cordially welcome to any of the ceremonies of the Caney Indigenous Spiritual Circle. Please read a complete description of these two events in my blog here.

Compai, Sobaoko Koromo sague.

Man I just love the discussion and the pictures you put up. Man I got to get me one of those cemis. I will speak to my good friend Jorge Esteves on where to get one or how to maybe make one. Sobaoko any suggestion my brother?
Yes Brother
The guy to talk to is Kacike Guaraguorix who also happens to be from Kiskeya (Dominican Republic) like brother Jorge. Kasike Guaraguaorix usually has these images in stock. Once you buy the image from him you do a blessing ceremony to activate it and imbue it with a cemi spirit. Then it can be honored as a living representation of one of the sacred cemies of our forebears. It is fed, flowers are given to it and candles or torches are burned before it. Once the image has been blessed it can never be sold again for money.

greetings to all,my family and I where at the Miami Winter Soltice Ceremony,It was a very blessed and educational day. This was my family and I first time there but yet welcomed as if we had been there each year.Edgar Konuk did me the honor of chooseing me to represent YOKA HU in the ceremony I thought I would be nervous but felt at peace among bro and sisters.Miguel did the ceremony in a way that is unexplainable, the way each step was explained in spanish and english is of a true spiritual man and I felt very good and at peace.I await other ceremonies in the future to see my new bro and sisters.Thankyou TainoMark
Congraduation on what looks like great spiritual cerimonies celabrated. I wished I could have attended them with you and your family and friends. As it was I celabrated on my own and had you all in my heart, thoughts and prayers.
