Takaji My Relatives
It was a distinct honor for us here at the Verona, Pennsylvania Healing and Teaching Lodge of theCANEY INDIGENOUS SPIRITUAL CIRCLE to welcome Mechica (Aztec) holy woman Ana Cihuacoatl to our ceremonial center on Saturday March 17 2013 as part of a weekend-long program of teachings and sharings of wisdom sponsored by local Pittsburgh musical artist Kellee Maize and the OWL TRIBE.
I we were asked to open our guanara (swetlodge) to the group for this event and we were happy to oblige. Our Aztec sister is a gifted medicine woman who led us in sacred temazcal ritual in the guanara lodge. I found that a great deal of what she shared with us there harmonized nicely with our own Taino tradition.
I want to thank her as well as Kellee and the members and friends of the Owl Tribe for bringing this blessing to our Verona teaching lodge. I aslo want to thank our brother Sol Shanti who generously provided us all with his fire-keeping talents keeping the guatu roaring for hours. Sol also took some of the photos featured here.
It was an honor for me to be given the chance to share our own Taino traditions in a Mexica lodge.
The sacred guatu (ritual fire) was warm and full of power on that cold March evening.

Happy to read of this beautiful event...the pictures are very nice as well. I like the openess of sharing the two traditions, and as Behique said that a great deal of what was shared harmonized nicely with the Taino tadition. This a good thing ,making all of this available for all to see here on this site, for those who could not attend. Bo'matum
