Construction of the Cuba PDJ staff

The Peace and Dignity Journeys Runs are prayers carried out with the use of sacred staffs that represent the Indigenous communities that take part in the run. These photos represent the original blessing of the Cuban mahogany wood that would eventually be carved into the Cuban staff. The wood was blessed in Baracoa, Cuba by Idalis Rojas, daughter of the current chief of the Cuban Taino community Don Panchito Rojas. Later the same mahogany block was blessed by members of the Indigenist organization in Havana GRUPO KAWEIRO CUBA
