We celebrated a Taino Caney Circle Crossing-over ceremony for a dear Cherokee sister Gail, who was a close friend of our Youngstown, Ohio-based Caney Circle Behike, and UCTP representative, the Boricua Taina, Dr Rose Xochitl Anao Quinones. In this image Caney Circle Behike Miguel Sague presents Rose with the memory table bearing the hanging higuera gourd and the clay bowl that contain the ashes of the ceremony's cremation guatu fire. The higuera gourd reflects the ancient Taino tradition of putting human remains (sometimes cremated) in gourds and hanging them from the ceiling rafters, and clay bowls with human remains buried under the houses.

Many thanks to Frank AkuTurey for your thoughts and prayers.
Seneko Kakona, Beike Quinones delValle
Beike Miguel was gracious to come and spend time with my family in Youngstown,Oh. Bibi Gail was a deeply spiritual person, generous with all she encountered in her ministry as a counselor and Religious. She had religious vows in the Institute of Our Lady of the Annunciation of the Society of St. Paul (congregation). She lived as a Professed member 36 years. Some of her ancestors (Cherry listed in the Rolls)marched in the Trail of Tears as others stayed behind in eastern Georgia. She practiced the native virtues every day of her life and she didn't see any conflict as a Vowed Secular Religious as a Catholic. She shared her Cherokee traditions and spirituality with my Taino spirituality. She was also a member of the Ohio Bohio Atabey. I treasure the Blessings from Kasike Mukaro Agueybana(UCTP),Bibi Inaru Pastrana head of the Bohio Atabey and Bohio members in the U.S. Bro. Joshua Seidle (Anishinabe"Ojibwe" of the Soc. of St. Paul and Beike Miguel Sague and all those who sent their thoughts and blessings. Bibi Gail had become part of my Taino family, who were participants in the Closing Taino Ceremony. Hahom to all and Seneko Kakona.Xochitl AnaO, Bibi of the Ohio Bohio Atabey, UCTP Liason(Ohio) and Beike of the Caney Spiritual Circle.
A beautiful ceremony, and a precious thing to have on one's altar to one's dead.
