an interesting aspect of the Lis Buchillones site is the fact that this remote village appears to have survived the holocaust of murderous killing and enslavement if Tainos in Cuba and actually thrived almost untouched for centuries even as other Taino communities either dissappeared completely or were moved by the Spanish authorities inro reservation-like enclaves such as El Caney further south.
Los Buchillones archeology shows evidence of persistent survival with minimal ammounts of trade with the outside world, controlled adoption of a limited amount of colonual culture and a strong survival of ancestral traditiin all the way up to the 1800's

all of the other pieces from Los Buchillones that i have pictured here really are 500-year-old relics

my relatives...actually this is not an actual relic from the archeological site. it is a replica. i would not have climbed unto an actual priceless irreplaceable relic. Jeffrey...that is actually a great idea

All these images are just amazing, brother! I wonder if you could include this image of you in the canoa in your book coming out, as a parallel of another spiritual canoa journey. Thank you for sharing all of this with us. I look forward to looking at them more closely this weekend, when I have more time to soak it all in.
