De regreso al mural del Centro cultural Manicato-------Return to work on the mural at Manicato Cultural Center

Today June 7, 2015 I had the pleasure of returning to the city of Lancaster in the state of Pennsylvania to add a few more touches to the mural that I am creating on the first floor of the Yukayeke Manicato Cultural Center, since the beginning of Spring. When I arrived there I discovered that Casike Guatu Iri, the leader of that community, has created a magnificent miniature diorama scene representing a fifteenth century Taino village in full detail. I also discovered that the Yukayeke Manicato community has begun work on the construction of a bohio (full-size traditional Taino house) in the outdoor space of their property.

That's super great that Casike Guatu  Iri and his sister Bibi Toa Kao are 2 of  the main driving forces in the  dissemination of Taino culture in the Lancaster area!

You should see these two, Casike Guatu Iri (who is now in training to be a behike of the Caney) and his sister Bibi Erlinda Toa Kao (Mother Crow) (who is an initiated Caney Circle behike). They are a whirlwind of activity. He is the heart and soul, the unstoppable force behind the development of the cultural center in Lancaster, and she is the driving force behind the monthly full moon ceremonies.
