You must be aware of the ongoing differences between the Mohawk Nation and the Canadian government. The Grandmothers who are caretakers and owner of tribal lands, are very outspoken, two in particular - brave warrior women is an apt description of them both - they also operate the Mohawk Nation News. However, they consider themselves citizens of their nation - which is sovereign or suppose to be, so they do not recognize the authority of the Canadian government.

On an entirely different note, I do love Canada. I have visited there quite often and since I live in Maine, we are about 8 hours from the border. I have always enjoyed the time I spent in Canada. Surprisingly for some, there are many Cherokee in Canada, My dear friend and Elder, lived in Hamilton up until his crossing over a few years ago. I miss him so much. He gifted me with the name Svhiyeyi Aga - which means Evening Rain - as a protective name for me. At the time he did so, I was the object of harassment by a well-known group on the internet at that time, who loved harassing certain people and in general doing all they could to hurt people and intimidate them. I am not easily intimidated, "smiles" so I am still here and they are somewhere. lol
