Welcome Avril. If you are of Haitian ancestry you have joined the network at a very opportune time. Until now the Taino Resurgence movement has made significant progress in Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic and even Cuba and Jamaica but very little evidence of interest in Taino self-identity in Haiti, even though we know for a fact that there is a survival of Taino tradition mixed into contemporary Voudun, and there is definitely a survival of Taino genes in modern Haitians. We have a few modern-day Haitians  who are now beginning to self-dentify as having Taino descent. One of the behikes of our Caney Indigenous Spiritual Circle is a Haitian. This week our spiritual Circle   was given the honor of being invited to celebrate the first ever Caney Circle full moon ceremony in Haiti. Our Dominican Republic-based behike-trainee Otto Nicanor De Sanctis crossed the border into Haiti accompanied by a Taino associate from Puerto Rico and celebrated the ceremony at the community of Vilaj Mozayik. They were invited there by the community members and the organizers of a wonderful environmental project call Yon Se Lanmou which is directed by the University of Colorado Applied Ecology professor Greg Cronin. I am very excited about this and am very happy to explore connections and collaborations with any Haitians who are willing to participate in this initiative in any manner. SENEKO KAKONA (Many Blessings)
