On the weekend of August 17 and 18, 1987 the newly created CANEY INDIGENOUS SPIRITUAL CIRCLE organized a two-day ceremony of transition and accomplishment called Harmonic Convergence. Inspired by the transcendental revelations made in the book MAYAN FACTOR the leaders of the Caney Circle organized a gathering in which the epochal world-changing events and prophetic announcements revealed in the book could be celebrated and confirmed. The book had been written by the artist Jose Arguelles and had launched a global movement that inspired people all over the world to gather like this in many places of the earth and perform ceremony. This particular gathering took place on the hill-top site of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania's COUNCIL OF THREE RIVERS AMERICAN INDIAN CENTER and attracted over two hundred participants.
