There is a narrative that is popular among the so-called Aborigine Americans that the people that most of the world recognizes as the legitimate first nations of the American continent are actually newcomers who immigrated into the Americas over the ancient Ice Age Bering Strait land bridge from the Siberian region of Asia, bringing with them so-called "Mongoloid" genetic traces. The "Aborigene Americans" claim that when these supposed immigrants arrived in the Americas they found the much darker-skinned "Aborigene Americans" already here. For that reason some "Aborigene Americans" oftentimes refer to these people as "Mongoloids" or "Asians" or "Siberians".
