DESCRIPTION:\nUmoja, the first of the seven principles of Kwanzaa, spe
 aks to maintaining unity in ‘our family, community, nation, and race
 ’.  Join us at the CCCADI Firehouse on Saturday, December 21st for 
 a special holiday edition of Sou Sou! Saturdays and for some much need
 ed time for Cultivating Umoja.\nThe first activation of the day (12p-2
 p), presented by Brujas of Brooklyn and designed for adults (21+), wil
 l consist of an engaging discussion exploring the socio-political hist
 ory of Dominicans in NYC. Through a historical lens, the Brujas of Br
 ooklyn will explore the Dominican experience in the U.S., delving into
  the legacy of the Trujillo dictatorship, the dynamics of Dominican mi
 gration to New York City, and how identity politics shape political be
 havior.  Join the conversation, ask tough questions, and help shape t
 he future of Dominican political engagement in the United States. \nDu
 ring the second half of the day (2:30p-4:30p), Fatima Logan-Alston and
  Threads of Truth will guide families (all ages are welcome) through a
 n interactive performance that will teach us about Kwanzaa and its his
 tory and symbols.  \nAll are welcome to attend this intergenerational
  day of unity and community bonding, which will also include a cultura
 l marketplace featuring a variety of vendors from our community for yo
 ur holiday shopping, and a Family Village space for children to expres
 s themselves with arts + crafts throughout the day.  \n\nIn times li
