 e Toronto Caribbean Carnival is a spectacular display of costumes, mus
 ic, and culture. This year, we're celebrating the 56th anniversary of
  the Grande Parade, which was first gifted to Canada by the Caribbean 
 Community during Canada’s centennial celebrations.\nThis Caribbean t
 radition of parading through the street was founded in celebration of 
 freedom and emancipation from slavery and is appropriately celebrated 
 on what has been recognized by the Canadian government as Emancipation
  Day weekend.\n\nSpecific event list taking place during the Toronto C
 aribbean Carnival 2023:\n\nOfficial Launch - July 11\nJunior King & Qu
 een Showcase - July 16\nKing & Queen Showcase - August 3\nOSA Pan Live
  - August 4\nThe Grand Parade - August 5\nWhile the official launch of
  the carnival on July 11 is free to attend, you will need to purchase
  tickets to attend the other events.\nFor parade:  there is a paid
  area with plenty of food, refreshments and more. You can also watch f
