For the longest time I have felt an intense desire to return to my roots; fishing, hunting, with no shoes preventing me from connecting with the Earth. As a child visiting Yamaye I would throw off my clothes and shoes and run into the bush. My Taino grandmother would laugh while my mother tried to catch me. The smell of the island air is like no where else; it calls to me.
