As always, it was good to be in the meeting with you all. I have sent our brother Nelson the three areas of the bylaws that need correction.

I want to thank you again for the opportunity to lead—even as I am still growing into this role. Your patience and dedication to Caney are invaluable. I hope to make time to discuss with each your goals, developments and motivation with Caney. As the Caney's heart is Miguel and we are the vibrations within the hearts chambers. ( My nursing degree hard at work)

What truly brings me comfort is our shared vision for Caney—a vision rooted in what Miguel and many of you have championed for our people, our tribes, and our villages, both Taino and non-Taino.

The Caney has filled many gaps in my own journey, becoming a space where I have found purpose through connection to the natural elements and the greater service of our collective spirit and intelligence. My hope is to see the Caney continue to be a sanctuary where others can also discover their purpose, walk the path of service, and deepen their connection to one another and to our ancestors.

From our Taino history, to service work, to spiritual substance—the Caney offers a wealth of teachings and breathtaking research into the sacred wisdom gifted to us by our ancestors. Our teaching program, while still growing, remains rooted in the importance of indigenous education and adapting it to our modern society without losing its heart.

This program is offered at no cost, for our indigeneity is not for sale. We serve Spirit, dance alongside our people, and share from the fullness of our harvest.

Many of us who are descendants, know of the prophecy and or vision that we shall return—but the truth, as our elders have always reminded us, is that we have never left.

I am deeply honored to walk this path with all of you. May our work continue to strengthen Caney’s sacred purpose and carry our people’s spirit forward. My first call to action is to complete the Mission, Purpose and Vision Statements of Caney. I plan to work with Miguel on these and bring to the next Board Meeting.

Looking forward to an exciting year and working with each one of you. Please reach out at anytime. 412-326-5104.
