About Me:
Wow! It's been several years since I been here... In re-reading my info here I find how much has changed and really, not much has. Well, maybe I'm a bit older...

I'm glad to see that Miguel has continued maintaining the site. It's beautiful to see him surrounded with loving, generous people helping him along.

I'm honored he's kept my account active, even in my absence. Thank you Miguel.

Taino woman, early forties, highly opinionated (respectful but direct), passionate about all things Taino, very into personal and spiritual growth (as a matter of fact, I see no difference between these) hungry for learning and willing to share.

I volunteer as a co-admin of this network and enjoy the exchanges I share with my fellow members. These topics are not only interesting, but important to discuss, although we must keep in mind that the Taino Movement is out there- in real time- and not necessarily on-line...

I do a lot of writing and at times it can have a tone of authority... Truth be told, there are only 4 types of sentences and although I ask many, I don't write in questions. Just keep in mind, mine is not the last word. We are all growing and learning and we come from different places, both literally and figuratively. My opinions are based on personal study and experiences, introspection, all kinds of stories filtered through my perspective and opinions I hold at that moment. Everything is subject to change at a moments notice and without warning :)

My purpose is not to offend but to generate debate. One doesn't have to be wrong for another to be right. A good examination of a matter can generate some wonderful ideas and open doors we may never had seen were there to begin with. I'm willing to open the doors to my opinions and beliefs, to examine the questions they generate as well as the answers. I'm willing to see what I really believe in.

There are more questions than answers and I find it a challenge to tackle difficult topics. This can sometimes be frustrating, for myself and others, but it also helps us realize that there isn't always an easy answer and ultimately, we are all in the same boat.

Change is the only guarantee and I'm looking forward to seeing how the Taino change...

Respectfully, I remain at your service

I'm opinionated also lol. I really liked your comment, I know that it probably is controversial but after 14 years in the resurgance movement I got alot of experience and have some things to say. I look forward to productive talks that will bring our movement forward in the here & now. Perhaps you can join the Carribean textiles group, I will posting lesson plans soon.

Nanu, a warm welcome, even if I am very late. Luckily other members already greeted you. I doubt this will be the case, but if you encounter any problems in using the site, please let me know. By the way, there was a comment below about being "censured" -- that does not happen here.

    Taino Ti

I have been in the Taino Resurgance monvement for 14 years now and I'm getting concerned at the latest trend of Taino reenactments that I'm seeing in the Caribbean islands and the USA.

I'm in the TAINO RESURGANCE MOVEMENT and want no part of people playing to Indian stereotypes playing on what they think the Taino acted 500 years ago.

In all of my 14 years I have remained a naboria but I have seen a plethora of so called Cacikes, Behikes, Bojitis and Nitainos come after me playing to Indian stereotypes.

Its time for a new restoration!!!

What does the community think ???

    I'm ducking!!!!

    Welcome Nanu,
When I first moved to Central Florida I had a psychic tell me that my spiritual guide was a tall native. My memory fails me on his name. Does your spiritual path lead you into channeling? I guess that explains my fascination with archeology, touching the ancient relics of a forgotten race. I'm interested in hearing about other's spiritual path.

Feel free to share your thoughts in these realms.

Hey, Nanu. I read you last post on ruben page. Oct7.

Very well put. you know the last time I went to Jorge Estevez at one of his taino presentation. One of the people looking at the presentation (caucasion couple) Told Jorge so taino's and caribs are not indians from america? That got me so pissed. I wanted to wring there necks. Not sure if Jorge got pissed or not. But it didnt show. Jorge patiently explained to them about the american continent and all indignous people. I forgot some of it. But he is right. Just like you are in that post to my good friend ruben. From the tip of alsaska to the tip of agrentina. The indignous people of those areas are but one family. Anthropolgy has proved that. At one point they use to think that the inuets were not indians. But know they know that they are. Your post was a nice read. That why I find it funny how indignous mexican are called illegals in there own continent. And I am call the son of imigrant when taino are indiginous to this continent.
  • Juan Almonte

Hey, Nanu, your very welcome. By the way you did it again. I like what you just wrote in my page.

You know I have heard it many time about our indiginous mexican brothers and sister. How they are not indians that they are hispanic. It's funny how a label that the USA goverment came up with (I think it was in the 60's) is now being used to say that they and all indiginous people who come from spanish speaking part of the continent are hispanic not indians. When infact there are part in south america where there are people who are actually of no admixture.

You wrote "I would like some information, if you could direct me, regarding the genetic familiarity of the natives of this land. Do you have any info on that to share?"

Do you mean native traits or anthropolgy stuff. You know I have a friend that I know for many years. He is of german and irish deccent. But for some resean he has a interst in things that are native. I told him when he gets a chance to see jorge taino presentaion. Not sure if he went yet. He has used me for his test dummy. I dont mind cause being that he is a full caucasion we are able to look at traits, more objectively. I dont have links cause I print everything but I am sure I can do a word search and find some of these articles. Also youtube has many good clip on anthropolgy. But mostly my search are on mongloid traits. Cause native americans are a subtype of this race. Each races has subtyes, and even the subtypes have subtypes. But they all subdived themselves to one of the true races.

I read that your picture is on the top of this link. http://tainowoman.wordpress.com/ If that is you. You have strong ameridan feature. Your face, eyes, cheeck bones,
  • Juan Almonte

Hey Nanu, Ruben asked me to post the below. His having a problem posting on your page.

Juán send this to Nanu, I am unable to send it to
    here.

Nanu, indeed Tainos and other Native Americans didn´t
know about, borders or checkpoints when they
emigrated, mother earth belonged to all them, and
didn´t known of property just like we use to do at
    present.

But there were, States and Imperiums too...

for example Incas and Aztecs, who had their own
country and invaded other Native Nations.

and incorporated invaded territory to their belongings
    as well

Nanu, be sure to check out this month's issue of Forum from the

I just saw your photo at a movie last night. I thought I saw it before. It was
on Matrix Reloaded with the oriental guy who introduced Nemo to the
    Sage, right?

The picture I thought was a HEF. Human Energy Field.

  • Ray Osborne

Ever have a picture taken of your HEF? I had a few aura pis taken of my aura at different
times of my life. Barbara Brennan an ex-NASA scientist wrote a fascinating book on the
topic. It is called "Hands of Light."

I may start getting more dialogue going on these type of topics. I welcome you indulging me with your opinions.

    -RKO

ps. what forum do you think is the most appropiate forum for this kind of discussion? I don't
    like holding off-topic topics.

PSS. When I saw the pic on the movie last night, I immediately thought of you. I am experimenting
    with consciousness.

Hey Nanu, I heard of that book. I will diffently get a copy. Question, do they mention tainos in it?
  • Juan Almonte

Hey Nanu, I read some of the customer reviews. Intersting, I will diffently get this book. Question. One of the comments talks about how the book debunks the theory that indigenous people have asian ancestory. Is that true, You know. I read alot of anthropolgy stuff. I actually also dont some comparsing between myself and asians. Many features are very similar. Including those so called indian teeth (shovel shaped teeth) Those features are mongloids traits. Thats why asians have them too.

What are you thoughts on the above. But like I said I diffently am going to pick up a copy this week.
  • Juan Almonte

    Hey Nanu,

I picked up that book you mentioned and I also bought a book called "Bartolome de las casas-Ashort account of the destruction of the indies" In that book they have a new updated cover. It not the same one if you look it up on amazone. I really like this new cover. There are taino bunch of tainos coming down the mountain. On the side you have spaniords with sord and rifile keeping them in line. Very upseting to see things like this in a drawing. But anyways what I found intersting is that the taio's in the cover are of diffrent complextion. There are some with dark brown, light brown, yellowish, and even the same complextion as the european. I actually belive that this is a good repesentation. I mean if the haplogrup found in present tainos deccendants have sighns of floridian indians, cherokee, mayan and other indians. It would be obvous that because of this mixing of diffrent indigenous people we would not look alike including complextoin. I read some where that one of the spaniords wrote that some of the indians had the complextion of close to europeans. At this time there was obviosly no admixture. I know we have disagreed before on this subject. But I will stick to that there may be tainos who are pure or close to pure living in any of the three islands. And not only that. That taino deccendans may not be as mixed as they actually think they are.

But anyways I did read a bit of the other book. The first pages its very political stuff. That kinda turning me off. I am going to stick with it and see if the author goes a bit more into his debunking science.

Ok, he doesnt debunk the asian orgin. Right now the asian orgin is the best explanation we got. I mean many asian traits are shared my indigenous people. Even us tainos who suppose to be so mixed still have strong mongloid traits.

Anyways did you finish reading it?
  • AGUILAR MARRERO

Nice to meet you. thanks for the acceptance. I have perfected a mix of oil and acrylics. it was an accident while playing around one day.
  • Juan Almonte

    Hey nanu.

I have read some of bartolome work before. I had a book that I cant remember what the titile was. I lend it to some and that peson never gave it back. I lost contact with him. Like you I couldnt read it as much as I wanted. It was very upsetting. Got me very mad. Filled my heart with hate. But I do want to fiinsh reading "the account of the indies"

You wrote " Remember, Juan, that nothing exists in a bubble- everything is related and connected."

Indeed, I just happen to be more intersted in the anthropoligical, archoeligical and history part of native people. As soon as I am dont reading de las casas book I will resume "red earth"
  • Rixturey

Hi, thanks for the comment. I work in all mediums, but the Aon was done using goache and then I changed the color scheme entirely in Photoshop. I use a lot of photo manipulation on my original images.

    Great hearing from you.
  • Ray Osborne

HI Nanu, we were talking about spirituality and I wanted to continue
    with that.

Obviously you believe in the immortality of the soul. Do you believe in
transmigration of the soul. Either 1) we come back as future humans or
    2) we may come back as an animal life form.

I know there is a myraid of beliefs out there and they are all beautiful
except maybe the (hell) which belief system doesn't believe in for
    good reason.

What's your beliefs on this topic.
