NOT TILL I BEGAN PAINTING AND MAKING SCULPTURES OF MY CULTURES, MY HERITAGE, DID THINGS BEGIN TO HAPPEN. EVERYTHING BELONGED TO OTHERS EXCEPT WHO I AM.
MY GREATEST STUDENT IS REINA MIRANDA WHO ALSO HAS BEEN ON EXHIBITION ALONG WITH MINE. THAT'S WHEN "TAINO SPIRIT" WAS BORN.
ON A SPIRITUAL PLAIN I AM A HISTORIAN IN THE TAINO CULTURE. A MEDICINE MAN, (TAINO, CHEROKEE, SANTERO/PALERO)
COMING THIS JANUARY "TAINO SPIRIT" INTERNET MAGAZINE (THIS IS ONLY THE DRAFT) KEEPING YOU INFORMED. LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK
Yes! I love Reina's work, and yours as well, especially the new orisha line (as a daughter of Ochun I have to say I'm partial to that one!) Thank you for the friend request and keep up the beautiful work for our people! =)
Your work is intense! So colorful and detailed! I am proud you are Taino! LOL!
How do you get the colors to be so brilliant mixing acrylic and oil? I have done so by accident and it turns out dull! Do you us any of the new oil formulations? Water soluble oils? alkyds? Do you use the same mix for the murals as you do for your paintings?
I like them both. The Award winning poster has NYC buildings and landmarks that brings it all together for me a person who was born & raised there. It also puts our culture in this moment of time. I mean when you look at the poster you know that its 2008.
TAINORAY, AGAIN BO'MATUM FOR YOUR WORDS. I WAS TOLD BY SOME OF THE COMMITTEE MEMBERS THAT THEY NEVER SAW ANY PAINTING GO SO QUICK OR POPULAR. I WAS HONORED THAT ALL THE POSTERS WENT THAT QUICK, AND THAT THEY BEGAN TO HAND OUT LAST YEARS POSTERS, . I SIGNED HUNDREDS (MAYBE A THOUSAND). I COULDNT BE IN ALL THE PLACES THEY WERE GIVING THEM OUT THRU OUR NYC AND OTHER STATES. AGAIN BO'MATUM.
