I am taino from kiskeya aka dominican rep. Nice to see other nations in this disucsion site. american indian matters are american indian matter doesnt not matter what part of the contient we come from so I am very pleased to see native americans from USA, canada and south american joining. Like I tell everyone there were no borders before 1492 and my ancestors also lived in bimini original name for the lower tip of florida. So I thank you. Blessing to you and your family

Yeah, taino and even caribs are not well known. Wich kina surprise's me. Because my ancestors and then the caribs people were the first to make contact with columbus and the europeans. But sometimes I dont get surprised. As I see native from central and south amerca. I tell folks those people are native american. People will tell me no they are not thy are mexicans, ecudorians peruans etc etc etc. Its just funny. But going back to the taino thing. Yes, many of our Puerto rican brother are taino. Infact there estimated as being 62% of the puerto rican population. While dominican taino are a very small part of the populatin only 15%. Cuba is about 33%. Not sure if you notice but many taino have played in north american indians. In the new world there were taino actors. Also end of spears but that was about native american from ecudor there are more movies. But I do think taino have contributed the alot and are the least acknowledge. I mean even english words have taino words. Like barbeque, hamock, huricane, tomatoe, potatoe. There more cant recall at the moment. Even the spanish spoken in kiskeya Aka dominican rep (kiskeya is a taino word) You will hear taino words. The more you get to the mountain areas the more taino words you will hear. Our spanish even has a taino accent to it. Very diffrent to the spaniord. But anyways sister I just noticed that I wrote alot. Pleaee feel free to excchange info about the cherokee people. I have notice when I talk to other native that many of the things I thought were only taino are actually a native thing. Share buy north, central and south americans.......................
