Its funny I had posted two day ago on spanish last names. That the spaniords also insalved some of our northern brothers and census them using spanish last name like us during the colonazation perriod. But I wrote that these indians only have spanish surnnames they dont speak spanish. I forgotten the tribe. And here I see one of our noth american indians sister with a surname.
I was basicaly stateing the in the post that many of us from what is "so called latin american" try to trace our our hertiage threw our lastname but we reach a dead end. Cause these names were giving to our ancestros during the colonzation period. Kind ferndand told the spaniords to census the indians so what the conquisdares did was give there indians slaves there own names. So I explain unless you have recent admixture this is how they got there spanish last names. Later it happend to the african and this template is the same the the english, french, dutch etc etc used.
In my case I have had few member tryed to trace there ancestor back to spain thrw last name. But they discovered some documentation stating that on some of my ancestors were indian slaves owned by the spaniords. so much for trying to trace ancestroy to europe using last name. I myself dont care if I have european admixture which so far seem that we can even find it.
Anyways sister nice to see one of our indians sister from a northen tribe support the the taino and caribs tribes.
Thanx for your reply and your intersted. I belvie that there are other north american indian member on this site too. I notice that our north indian brothers and sister are becoming intested in indians from the other side of the continent. I belive my friend Jorge who works in the native american museum had north american indians come and see his presentation. Indians and non indians are becoming intersted in the tainos and caribs because we were the first to make contact with columbus and other europeans. So even though we lost alot of our tribal identity we have also maintained alot of our amerdian ancestory, culture, food, etc etc. Many indians becomeing inersted when i tell them that even english has a few taino words example hurrican, hammock, potatoe, tomatoe, canoe, barbeque there are more but I can t remember.......................................
I agree with you. Any issue with native people regardless of tribe is a native issue. We diffently got to stick toghether. No offence to non indians in this site. But one of my taino brothers said some thing that I agree with. If indigenous people would have over looked there minor diffrences and realized that we are but one family. During the time of colonazation it would have been a diffrent story.

Ruben, Spaniored censored indians so to make this process easier they gave them spanish last names. This happened to the indians from caribbean then mexico and south american. Some noth american indians were censored too. We were forced to drop our language and learn spanish. But the indians from the north america who were being censor by the spaniords were later inslaved by the brits and the french. So even thought they have spanish last name they dont speak spanish. Just like in canada you got indians that speak french. But that doesnt make them french. The problem is that because we speak spanish we are consider hispanic when infact many of us dont even have eurpean ancestory. Many cacasion are under the impression that the USA is the begining and ending of this continent. So othre indigenous people are then something else.

Thanks for you comments on the photos. I took them all at different locations, though most were taken over the last three years that I have lived in Oregon. The clover picture was taken during the fall in the Redwoods of Northern California, and yes, it was actually purple!
The "face" was picture from last spring from petroglyph site that I visited in New Mexico, not far from White Sands.
Looks like you are right here in Oregon! During my first year and a half here I was fortunate to meet a number of brothers and sisters from the Klamath and Pauite tribes. Couple of years back Tyler Barlowe invited me out to McDermitt in Nevada to attend Sundance and Tepee meeting...I am grateful to have attended. I hope to make it up to Mt. Hood this year. Do you know Tyler? Jubel Perkins? or Trish Jordan? They have done alot for the people out here.
