Your very welcome. Dont feel folish. It's a history that till this day is even denied to us. I myself am from Kiskeya aka dominican rep. When I tell dominicans I am indian they ok with it. Untill I tell them I am an indian from domincan rep. They get offended and even deny me. They call wanna be dominican, that I am asian, that I am from south america and all these crazy things. Instead of admiting I am a taino. You see the colonzier who my ancestors incountered right from the get go took our idenitity. Till this day you have amerdians who dont even know they are. Not only in the caribean but in central and south america. This was purposely done, to deny us our birth right and its still happening. But with that said. Many of us did know and maintaned certain part of our culture, tradition and even some part of our language. Obvuously central and south american are bigger. So there are folk there who if I am not mistaken dont even speak a european language. They speak there original native tounge. The other misconception is that. The western hemisphere ends and begins with what is now called the USA. When I tell folks I am taino (indigenous to this continent) They tell me oh so your not a american indian. I am like no I am not. Cause I am not deccendant of american vessuci the map and book writer. Then I go on to explain that from the tip of alaska to the tip of south american all native are but one family. Then I also go to explain that my ancesters territorie was the larger antilles. This includes the lower tip of florida too. Which was called bimini. But we lost that land when the spaniords came and then as you know it became of what is now known and the USA. So in many way. My taino ancestors are connected to the noth american indians too. My ancestros traded with them and even intermixed with them, also did this with the mayans and other south american indians.

Yes, many people just belive that native live in what is called the USA. That the rest of us were wiped out. I tell folks that the holocust of our people happend in the western hemisphere. Not just in one peace of land. And depending on the colonzier and what language was forced on our people. Like in canada. You have amerdian who speake french and english. In the USA, they speak english. In the certain part of central and south aermica they speak spanish. Cause our colonizer were spaniords.

Yes, the problem that I have with hispanic. Is that the USA started to refer to us tht in the mid 60's. And it was supposed to just be based on lingustic. But know people take it to mean race. Anthropoligist dont even acknowledge it. Also just like in the USA, canada and alaska. There are people in central and southe america who are from many parts of the world, asian, caucaions from diffrent part of europe, arab, jews, etc etc etc. But because they now speak spanish they are consdered hispanic. The other problem that I have with hispanic is that. If you look it up in the dictionary. It says people and culture of spain, thing of spain. I dont consider myself a thing of spain. Yes, I speak spanish. But native in USA speak english. That doesnt make them britanic. As a matter of fact. The european deccendants living in central and south american. Don't want indians and aficans to be called hispanic or latino. Because those to terms mean white. They even have KKK. Honestly I am not mad for not wanting us to be called that. Cause we are not.

Yes, the taino went threw alot still going threw it. This is why I say native matters are native matters. Cause all the indigenous people of this continent had wiked crimes commited on them, still do. So when I hear of of amerdian mexican being jailed an killed it hurts. I wonder how come the caucasion mexican dont go threw that. How is a amerdian illegal in his own continent. I too am called a son of immigrant. But I am like if I was european living in italy I could freely travel to england or germany.
