Profile Information

About Me:
My name is Uma Acosta. I'm a 23 year old Boricua art student currently living in Old San Juan. Some of my passions are photography, painting, drawing, designing and meditating. A little about myself, I started a photography company when I was 15 years old called 'Salados Photography'. Companies hired me to take photos of certain events. My love for arts kept evolving while I was studying psychology in the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras. Living in Río Piedras, I had organized and exhibited my artworks in galleries and live painting shows. After Hurricane María a lot of changes happened and I ended up deciding to study art from scratch then later on I got accepted in the Artes Plásticas (art school in Old San Juan). My art is a reflection of my self in different levels. I try to incorporate psychological concepts, surrealism, sacred geometry, metaphysics, my love for nature and ancestral knowledge in my artworks. I also have a clothing line that pays homage to our Taino ancestors. It is called 'Ku Hura' and it incorporates Taino designs from petroglyphs, potteries, masks, carved artefacts, etc. I'm also a certified Reiki healer on the Okuden Level (II).

Hi ;

I am Huana. I posted a topic on the discussion panel on this site, for opening a  discussion and dialogue regarding,  Indoantillean language survival among borikuas. I am sharing this information. And I will like people to participate in the dialogue regarding the topic. As you live in the island and you are interested in the native roots, I reach to you.  In Boricuas island we have the language. It is talk mixed within the spanish that we as borikuas talk. For a revitalization this information that we have in here must be taken in consideration.  We have enough data to revitalize the language with a Grammar. We are going to do it in Boriken. I you want to get the information. I suggest the participation and dialogue on this topic. I invite you to check on the videos posted in the youtube page: Borikua Ancestral. We are looking for people interested in joining this cause in the island.

Best regards from Huana
