Para mi a sido un gran honor haber tenido la oportunidad de ofrecer mi ayuda en la ceremonia del SIRIK con mi hermano espiritual, William Rodriguez en Rabun Country, Georgia este Sábado pasado, Mayo 23 2026.

El SIRIK es una celebración de la temporada del año en el final de la Primavera cuando las lluvias se intensifican en la zona del Caribe, y llega el momento más oportuno para sembrar. Esta temporada es marcada por la aparición de la constelación de las Peyades por la mañana y la vocalización de ciertas ranitas. Estas ranitas nos hace pensar de el episodio de nuestra leyenda primordial durante el cual el Kasike Guahayona abandona la cueva ancestral de Kasibajagua con todas las mujeres de la tribu y se alejan de los hombres y niños de la comunidad en una gran canoa. Los bebés lloran por falta de la leche materna y se convierten en ranitas, que luego suben al cielo y forman la constelación de las Pléyades. Las lágrimas de los bebitos hambrientos corresponden con las lágrimas del espíritu de la lluvia, Boinayel, cuyas lágrimas celestiales se convierten en las lluvias de Mayo.

For me it has been a great honor to have the opportunity to offer my assistance in the SIRIK ceremony with my spiritual brother, William Rodriguez in Rabun County, Georgia this past Saturday, May 23, 2026.

SIRIK is a celebration of the period of the year at the end of the Spring season when the rains intensify in the Caribbean region, and the most opportune moment arrives for the work of crop planting. This time of the year is marked by the heliacal rising of the Pleiades constellation and the vocalizations of certain frogs. These noisy frogs bring to mind the episode of our primordial legend during which Kasike Guahayona abandons the ancestral cave Kasibahagua accompanied by all the women of the tribe and they travel far from the men and children of the community in a great canoe. The babies who have not yet been weaned weep loudly for their mother's milk and eventually turn into little frogs, who later rise into the sky and transform into the stars of the Pleiades constellation. The tears of the hungry babies correspond to the tears of the spirit of rain, Boinayel, whose celestial tears turn into the drenching downpours of May.

Esta es una ceremonia de siembra, donde se celebran las primeras plantas del konuko Taino durante esta temporada de lluvias.

This is a planting ceremony, as part of which we celebrate the first sowing and seeding in the Taino konuko during the season of rains.
