Tai Pelli, a respected member of the indigenous Taíno community was visiting Mexico recently to participate in an international Indigenous Peoples conference organized by the International Indian Treaty Council.
While in Mexico, on her way to day-two of the conference in a transport van with other participants, there was a car incident on March 8th that left her with two fractured vertebrae and other injuries. Doctors are not allowing her to travel back to the U.S. for a few weeks as she needs to recuperate in bed with a full back and neck brace.
The United Confederation of Taíno People launched this fundraiser, with her permission, to assist her with basic essentials while she is in Mexico and when she returns to the U.S. as her medical bills will be higher.
Please give what you can - $1, $5, $10, $20 or more - as collectively we can make a difference for this respected Taíno community leader.
