We celebrated the Caney Indigenous Spiritual Circle Taino ceremony of Spring Equinox on Saturday March 14 2026 at Taino Woods in upstate New York
The ceremony was officiated by our Caney Circle behike apprentice Chantel Garcia Rivera
I was given the honor of assisting in the ceremony
We were accompanied by a number of beautiful people who frequent our annual observances
The women celebrated the Sibucan Dance to weave the ropes into the form of a serpent
After weaving the ropes into the form of a snake the women performed the Boa Constrictor Dance in a manner similar to the way it was done during this video recorded celebration of 2022. But instead of dancing outside they danced inside the ceremonial Caney this year.
After the Boa Constrictor Dance ended, the ritual of Yokahu's separation from the uterus of his mother and his subsequent birth was celebrated.
