Greetings My Relatives
It is obvious that Gua Ban Cex the manifestation of our Cosmic Mother who represents forceful natural phenomena, has decided that we must celebrate this year's Solstice Ceremony in our own homes in the company of our close relatives and not at Mill Creek Park in Youngstown Ohio.

After a very powerful storm system which passed through here on Wednesday evening causing some heavy flooding in many areas of our city and making it possible for at least one funnel-cloud sighting, it appears that tomorrow Saturday will be no calmer. There are thunderstorms and high winds forecasted for the Youngstown Ohio and Pittsburgh, PA areas tomorrow.

Rose Anao Xochitl Quinones Ohio UCTP representative based in Yougstown and I have decided to cancel our big Taino Solstice cultural event originally scheduled for tomorrow and plan for another cultural event for August of September.

The Caney Circle regrets having to inform you of this cancellation since there was considerable exitement building from Pennsylvania though parts of Ohio and into Indiana concerning this event. We look forward to seeing that enthusiasm re-kindled for the make-up event later on this year. In the meantime we encourage all of you to visit our Caney Circle website and explore how to celebrate the Summer Solstice in the warmth and intimacy of your family.

My Relatives
We are very excited about our Summer Solstice event being planned for June 20 in Youngstown. Ohio. At this point our Taino sister Rose Xochitl AnaO, a resident of Youngstown and the local spearhead of the project, has reserved the site and made contacts in the media community to try to get as much of the word out locally as she can.

We are planning a modest cultural presentation which will include demonstrations of yuca grating and preparation of casabe bread as our ancestors used to do it as well as a re-enactment of the hunting of jutia (Cuban groundhogs) with pretend jutias. There will also be an extensive display of Taino replica artefacts for public viewing. We intend to spark the Taino resurgence in the Ohio area and the local enthusiasm is begining to build.

If you have any relatives or friends in the eastern Ohio area, Youngstown, Cleveland and Loraine, or in the north-western Pennsylvania area of Erie county, please let them know about our event or foward them a copy of our event invitation so that they can join their Taino relatives at this the first annual Summer Solstice of the Forks of the Ohio River tri-state area.

I would like to thanks the Caney "Native" Spiritual Circle for their invitation to join the next Solstice celebration on June 20th. Fortunately I reside in the Caribbean and will celebrate my birthday locally, but on a spiritual link to the earth which unites us all. On behalf of all of those who like me were born on that particular date, lets request from our CREATOR and FATHER, lots of health and a good woman to embrace and love.
Thank you Miguel Sobaoko Koromo sague for your invitation. We'll join the spirit.

I was really blown away by the way Felipe's attitude slowly evolved during that radio interview. I think he was happy to have two guests who could actually talk fluently about Taino culture and the Resurgence in Spanish for his listening audience. I also think that when it became evident that music and dance was going to be an important part of our June 20 celebration his artistic insticts as a musician took over. I hope we can continue to keep his enthusiasm up during the next month and a ahlf because i feel he is going to be a wonderfur ally in our efforts to bring the Resurgence to the eastern Ohio taino community.
Bless you Rose for all your hard work!
