Hi all,
Just got a text message stating that Yari Taina, known to some of you and percussionist of my band La Sovietika, has been held in jail since Saturday 8/9/08 afternoon and hasn't been released yet.
Details are not clear at the moment but allegedly she witnessed some police misconduct, proceeded to film it, was approached by the officers and somehow ended up arrested and charged with "observation/intervention in an arrest".
Any help (press coverage, law assistance, etc.) will be greatly appreciated. There's also a call for a demonstration to demand her release in front of the Bronx Criminal Court Building located at 161th Street and Grand Concourse in the Bx. Trains D and 4 to Yankee Stadium station.
