YOU ARE INVITED TO A RECEPTION AND PRESENTATION BY FRANCISCO CALI TZAY, MAYAN KAQCHIKEL, VICE-PRESIDENT OF THE UN COMMITTEE ON THE ELIMINATION OF RACIAL DISCRIMINATION (CERD) AND CHAIR OF THE CERD’S URGENT ACTION AND EARLY WARNING PROCEDURE

The CERD is the UN Treaty Monitoring Body for the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination, and is an important body for defending the rights of Indigenous Peoples and communities impacted by racism and racial discrimination and for monitoring State (country) compliance with their human rights obligations.

This event is co-sponsored and hosted by the International Indian Treaty Council, the Secretariat of the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues, United Confederation of Taino People, NGO Committee on the UN International Decade of the World's Indigenous Peoples and the US Human Rights Network.
