I am a PhD candidate in social anthropology at York University in Toronto, ON, working on water politics in Belize. I am happiest when I am swimming (and by swimming, I mean floating in the water with friends or a snorkel, rather than counting laps).
Occupation:
Graduate Student/Adjunct Professor
Research Interests:
My interests include: the cultural construction of the waterscape; safe, clean & equitable water distribution systems; "natural" disasters; tourism; indigeneity and the anthropology and ethnography of Belize, and Garifuna identity and culture. My current research looks at the anthropology of Caribbean Indigeneity movements. When I'm taking a break from my formal studies, I do work on domestic tourism in the UK with a focus on lifeboat volunteers on the North East coast of England, and the folklore generated by touring punk rock bands as they encountered Europe in the 1980s and 90s.
