Luna LLena Pittsburgh y Lancaster 21 De Mayo 2016.... Full Moon Ceremony Pittsburgh and Lancaster May 21 2016

This Saturday May 21 it rained a great deal in Pittsburgh, so we celebrated the Caney Circle Full Moon Ceremony inside the home of our Boricua Taino sister Dee Mitchell-Schreiner. This sister has taken charge or becoming the guardian of a very special plot of land of the urban area of Pittsburgh called O.W.L. Native Natural Reserve. The site is located right in front of Dee's house in the neighborhood of Hazelwood. That is why we were able to shelter ourselves in her house to escape the rain and celebrate the ceremony.

Our sister Dee honored us when she played the role of AtaBey during our ceremony and lit the two flames that represent the double light of the full moon.

In the sister city of Lancaster, Pennsylvania the Taino community of YUKAYEKE MANICATO also celebrated  the Full Moon Ceremony in accordance with the tradition of the Caney Circle. The ceremony was guided by our behike, Bibi Erlinda Toa Cao (Mother Crow).

Behike Toa Cao assisted the woman who was elected to perform the role of the divine mother AtaBey as she lit the double flame that represents the double light of the full moon. This action of the ceremony took place near the window next to the cemi OpiyelGuobiran.

Many blessings to all of our Caney Circle behikes in the various localities where they carry out their responsibilities among our Taino brothers and sisters, and others who love Taino culture.
