It would seem that at least one person is not happy with my work with this network, and issues of "ownership" have been raised. As with the Caribbean Amerindian Centrelink, and Kacike, I have been actively seeking to transfer these resources. The proof of the latter facts is to be found within the Groups in this network by the way, specifically:

http://indigenouscaribbean.ning.com/group/indigenouscaribbeancenter

and

http://indigenouscaribbean.ning.com/group/bloggersgroupreviewoftheicc.

Of course, one cannot always expect those who move in terms of automated criticisms to take the time to notice these things. At least four editors with KACIKE are in this network, and will confirm my very, very active efforts to find a replacement, to no avail.

These issues are rightly your issues, and belong in your hands. Therefore, please speak out and ask to take control of this network. I would be delighted to oblige at the earliest opportunity. The other option is clearly unacceptable and destructive, which would be to delete a network that so many have found to be so useful.

Thank you for your time, and good bye.

Just out of curiosity, Max, what made you come to the decision to "find a replacement" as you stated?

Wow, this turned out really well, and I am very happy to see the names of people who came forward willing to co-administer. These are individuals that I think are widely respected in this network, Carrie, Nanu, Orocobia, and who have done tremendous work to really enrich discussions and interactions on this site.

I am of two minds about the vote issue: if all were competing for one single spot, then I could see the point about voting; but if it's a team, with no size restrictions, then it's just good that they willingly came forward. What might address the issue of democracy is to let this sit for a day or two and allow people to raise any objections to any of us being administrators.

But so far I am personally very happy with the outcome.

It should be known that I was volunteering to help Max with the ICN, and have been promoted as administrator only recently.

I am willing to co-administer with other volunteers. I am happy to co-admin with others. I WANT to co-admin with others...

If it is to be brought to a vote, count me in as a candidate.

Max, I am sorry this situation is happening.

Ruben, it is not that simple
everyone would have to agree that we are to have a vote
then a vote would need to be announced
and everyone have a chance to vote
we can not decide with the few of us
Comment by adem medina cardona on January 20, 2009 at 5:20pm
perhaps a group of people nominated and agreed upon by the group as a whole would be appropriate
there are other ning groups if anyone is unhappy they can join or create their own group but this one, with MAX as administrator is just fine for me.

I have been gone from this net work for quite sometime because of my research efforts in the genealogy. Today I receive an E mail informing me that there is trouble brewing because of petty jealousies and obvious power plays behind the scenes.
It amazes me that we can't even keep a good thing going without petty politics et al.
I thought this place was going to be a place for sharing ideas and to learn from them.
But as always, this just can't seem to happen especially concerning Caribbean history, culture and traditions.
Why is it that we cannot glory within those three, History, culture and tradition without having to spoil it with uneducated pettyness.
Lets all do something about it by what ever means it takes.
This isn't just "our" network, it belongs to everyone who is a Caribbean and interested parties.
My vote is with Max Forte who has the vision to set up a forum that explores who we were and who we are.
