LUNA LLENA NOVIEMBRE 2016-------------FULL MOON NOVEMBER 2016

My spiritual relatives, this month our Full Moon ceremonies coincide with an intensification of the efforts currently being carried out in the United States to save the waters of the Earth. As we all know, the waters of the Earth are the blood of AtaBei. The mother of our Spirit of Life is also our own mother, and her blood is the sacred water that curses through the arteries of her body. These arteries are the rivers of our countries and the currents of the sea. Each month we render homage to the flow of that, our mother's blood, which rises and falls cyclically in the movements of the ocean tides along with the cycles of the moon.

During the ceremonies of this month the behikes of the Caney Circle have maintained in their prayers the efforts of the Water Protectors who are confronting official violence in North Dakota.

In Pittsburgh the behikes of the Caney Circle, Karmen and Tenanche, officiated a beautiful series of ceremonies in the center of the city. The ceremonies began at the site of the church TRINITY CATHEDRAL. In the cemetery of that church are found the remains of of an Indigenous Shawnee chief called Red Pole who was one of the principal Natives that historically dedicated themselves to promoting peace between Indigenous people and the colonists in this region. In front of the grave of Red Pole Karmen and Tenanche iniciated the prayers honoring the ancestors and their devotion to the waters of the earth. They were assisted by a prominent Dakota elder of our region called Johnny Creed Coe.

After the prayers before the grave of Red Pole all of us proceeded in procession from the church to the bank of our Allegheny River. Right there on the edge of the river more ceremonies were carried out, including the offering of waters collected at the Cannonball River of North Dakota by one of the Water Protectors. Each participant at the ceremony had a chance to offer a little bit of Cannonball River water, pouring it into the Allegheny River. These ceremonies here honoring the waters of the Earth (which are linked to the lunar cycle) took place just before the November Full Moon and we in the Pittsburgh Caney Circle dedicated those rituals as Full Moon ceremonies for the month of November 2016.
