Takaji My Relatives
It was an honor for me to represent the Caney Indigenous Spiritual Circle and Native American traditional respect for the world's water at this year's World Water Day.
We gathered on the bank of the Monongahela River in the Pittsburgh neighborhood of the South Side.
I was joined down by the riverside by my spiritual sister the Caney Circle behike Tenanche Semi-Ata Golden as well and a number of other Peaceburghers who braved the chill breeze blowing in over the water to honor all the waters of the world.
It was an emotional event with inspiring talks delivered by Brooke Smokelin, Vikki Hanchin, and others, and prayers led by both myself and by Bibi Tenanche.
The ceremony culminated with the scattering of flowers into the waters of the Monongahela.
