Hola Ruben~ Bien venidos:-) I'm happy to accept you as a friend. I am Native but Cherokee and Blackfoot, and also enjoy learning. I know some Spanish, but my grammar is poor. I can understand it when it's spoken pretty well.
Oklahoma is one State where there is a great population of Natives there, and there is no land base. In Michigan, Gun Lake Tribe has no land base. Sault Tribe, when they were recognized an elder gave them 22 acred and that began their land base. A tribe has to show they have lived consistently on the same land, and never moved from it.
During the Obama Administration we saw the signing of the Tribal Law and Order Act which greatly impacted tribes in the USA. This Act confirmed that there is an epidemic of violence against native women and children. Tribes have little training on how to prosecute offenders that are in their reservation areas. If a crime happens off reservations or by non-natives, there is an inability to prosecute. This bill was reaffirmed this year. VP Biden is a strong advocate. We have also seen at least 6 tribes getting Federal Recognition, even without a land base. Thanks for asking Ruben.
Desgraciadamente el movimiento de REANCIMIENTO TAINO no esta tan avanzado entre los cubanos como entre los puertorriquenos. Espero que en un futuro mi jente se despierte a su pasado indigena como lo han hecho lo boricuas.
Good to hear from you, the traits of our ancestors are lost in the mixing of our people, the dilution of a Race, not any fault of the Jamaican people rather by those that came before us and took the purity of a Nation away, if you recall these people were the Spaniards and the British that rob us of our Birth right…while our physical traits maybe gone, the Arawak blood still runs in many of us vein, long live the original people of Jamaica.
