    Tau Max,

I have had some difficulty with the post lately that i thought you might be ble to clear up. Probably operator error on my part :)
I have been unable to sign on to my page or leave messages-I wonder if it became inactive?...Anyway I attempted to update it but now it looks like I've created 2 accounts. Would like to revert to the old page and delete the new one. Can you make this happen on your end?

Hope that you are well and look forward to hearing from you.

    Richard

    Dear Maximilian,
Thank you much for your kind welcome. I am grateful for the code of conduct. I have received emails for friend requests that are of the ones who ask more than "friendship"...I have deleted such. I joined this site to share information, knowledge and cultural ideas...based on self-knowledge, learned knowledge or simply shared ideas on the theme of indigenous caribbean dialoges. Thank you again for your sincere intention on creating such a sacred and secular space.

Thank you for the warm welcome. I am glad to be here and I am looking forward to learning more about the Taino culture, as I hope to share my own, which is Cherokee.

Thank you - and many blessings, Evening Rain

Osiyo (hello) again, just a brief comment after reading the rules and your comments about Canada and free speech. You must be aware of the ongoing differences between the Mohawk Nation and the Canadian government. The Grandmothers who are caretakers and owner of tribal lands, are very outspoken, two in particular - brave warrior women is an apt description of them both - they also operate the Mohawk Nation News. However, they consider themselves citizens of their nation - which is sovereign or suppose to be, so they do not recognize the authority of the Canadian government.

On an entirely different note, I do love Canada. I have visited there quite often and since I live in Maine, we are about 8 hours from the border. I have always enjoyed the time I spent in Canada. Surprisingly for some, there are many Cherokee in Canada, My dear friend and Elder, lived in Hamilton up until his crossing over a few years ago. I miss him so much. He gifted me with the name Svhiyeyi Aga - which means Evening Rain - as a protective name for me. At the time he did so, I was the object of harassment by a well-known group on the internet at that time, who loved harassing certain people and in general doing all they could to hurt people and intimidate them. I am not easily intimidated, "smiles" so I am still here and they are somewhere. lol

Have a great day. Evening Rain

  • Maximilian Forte

Hold on...I was merely reproducing the very negative and disheartened comments I received from a few dozen members, in the space of two days, complaining about the low level of discourse, the animosity, and stating they were ready to drop the network, including a lot of serious people who have contributed a lot. Optimism is one thing, but you don't ignore such facts without disrespecting the same people you yourself would praise for their scholarly integrity (an issue I addressed on your board).

As for commenting on "people's intelligences", I don't know why you are pluralizing. I do reserve the right to defend myself against attacks. If I don't, who will? Will you? So it is very wrong and unfair to try to disarm someone who is the recipient of the attacks in the first place. I don't understand what kind of value you see in endorsing such a position, and I wonder if you would hold yourself to that same kind of standard. Personally, I think it is unreasonable.

The rest I left as a comment on your board.
  • Maximilian Forte

In the meantime, when I ask for constructive inputs, what do I get in response?
That I am "sarcastic" and "pompous." Orocobia, you might want to look at that for a better sense of balance than you currently have...and see the comment below.

Many times I sat down to recall the memories how she lived, how she taugh me and all the good memories brings me a smile. From the cooking procedures to the healing procedures, but those are memories that I will always keep in my journal and mind. Hi Max, to answer your question. I have never been mistaken for maori by the locals but sometimes I have been by visitors to NZ. I am an avid football player and making friends in those circles is easy but out of those circles I find the Maori more group focused. Pakeha tend to be more individualistic and this is of course generalising. For example on work sites I find that Maori is more curious to know where I am from than the Pakeha, and they would invite me to join them for lunch where as the Pakeha wouldn't ask me to partake. Subtleties that can easily be missed. Thanks for asking the question, I wouldn't have thought of it.

Linked in network has a couple options for meeting up on the net. The question is, do the other members have Linked in accounts? If not, we could set up something through Skype. It does seem that the last 20 posts or so have been you and I. There are a few prolific writers out there whom we could either invite or ask for submissions. But we can dish later~c

My English is not very good and I use "language tools" of
Google to avoid too many mistakes, then I correct what I believe
"heavy". It's a joy for me, since it allows me to
communicate more quickly in the network. Also, thank you for your
compliments encourage me in my work. I hope to have the
    chance to meet you someday.
