I shared a wonderful experience of Spring Season prayer and ceremony with my dear friends of Iukaieke Guainia at Brooke Park in The Bronx, New York this past Sunday March 23 2014 as I prepared to leave for my trip to Cuba.
We were joined by Kasike Roberto Mucaro Borrero and his whole family as well as several other members of the Taino Resurgence community of New York.
The kasike made sure there was a sacred guatu fire for his people to gather around and pray.
I contributed prayer and song as I sat near my altar. We all shared a wonderful moment of community and blessings.
After the gathering at the park Kasike Mucaro led us to an excellent Dominican cuchifrito restaurant not far away where we celebrated my departure in grand Taino Caribbean style, great food and even greater company.
It was the greatest send-off I could have possibly gotten from anybody and I thank my beautiful Taino family for blessing me in this way.
