Yes, the movie the hype things up a bit. But still good motivational. The books look good though. Mr hill book is a bit outdated with some info. It seems the book was writtin after the derpresion. Will who's we kinda going threw one now.

I know the discussion is very imature. But I think that if people want to learn about present day taino they need to come with respect. If i wanted to learn about ireland and would go to a ireland site I would ask respecitvly. So because of that I didnt see you had posted your comment on my page. Anyway talk to you soon.

Wow! Ray, thank you.

If this is an invitation to put our differences aside and re-attempt a relationship in Taino fellowship, I accept.

I am happy to follow the example of the Iroquois and bury the hatchet.

Welcome natiao.

Nanu, agreed with alot of the stuff you said. Might missunerstood you. But I did disagree with a few. But like you said we have alreay done this. Agreed to disagree. I guess we also adding to the agree to disagree list.

Comming from you I take it as a compliment as I enjoy reading many of your post. Have a nice one.

Nanu,

I was familiar with de las casas work before. Like I said I think I had a bigger version. But just read it in bits. Lend it out, now its missing in action. But yeah, I am reading the short account. Even though its a small book that, I as a slow reader could finish in two or three days. I have been reading in bits. Very upsetting. Some stuff I knew but other are just crazy.

With that said I think you misunderstood me. I dont belive in that european must pay for what there ancestors did. Not all eurpeans are deccendants of people who had slaves. And the eurpeans that commited these wiked act are long gone. What I am saying we can glorify what happend to our ancestors. By saying yeah, if that didnt happend I wouldnt be here. Who knows maybe if it didnt happen you would be here regardless and maybe I would not be here. There is profersor (forgot his name) who talk about north america hidded heritage. When you see the clips all he is talking about is the spaniord colonazation of the american continent. He even say yeah they killed indian but regarless of that we should be proud. I actually send him an email. Telling he should be ashamed. I told him that those colonizer do not repesent me. If hispanic is attacheched to the conquistadores I want no part of it. I dont care how much of this admixture I may have or may not have. Remember I am talking about the eurpean of the colonzation periond that should not be glorified. I am not talking about present day europeans even though some act are still being commited. There are many euro-americans who I am sure contributed. I have a friend who is half irish and german. He is very knowlegable about native things. Once he get a chance he will become a member here. I aslo asked to see Jorge.

We should not be stuck on th past but there should be no glorifacation of the colonazation period.

Nanu,

You wrote " I cannot hate the colonizers for in doing so I will hate that which makes me who I am today- in all my Taino glory."

No sure what this person stands for. Present day eurpeans are not responsible for there ancestors, agreed. But not hating people that burned our ancestors alivie, killed babys and fed them to the dogs and everything we know about the first colonzier is just crazy. Regardless of how much admixture you think you have. But that behavior can and should not be glorified even if it means that if it didnt happend we would not exist.

I cannot say I agree with you, AF RA KAN GOD IN RESSURECTION.

You are perpetuating a hate I don't share. I cannot hate the colonizers for in doing so I will hate that which makes me who I am today- in all my Taino glory.

By encouraging hate we will never heal. The blame game has to stop. We now need to stand on our own two feet, realize the choices that lay before us and make the ones that will lead us to growth and actualization.

Keep picking at a scab and the wound won't heal...

HI Nanu, we were talking about spirituality and I wanted to continue
with that.

Obviously you believe in the immortality of the soul. Do you believe in
transmigration of the soul. Either 1) we come back as future humans or
2) we may come back as an animal life form.

I know there is a myraid of beliefs out there and they are all beautiful
except maybe the (hell) which belief system doesn't believe in for
good reason.

What's your beliefs on this topic.

Hi, thanks for the comment. I work in all mediums, but the Aon was done using goache and then I changed the color scheme entirely in Photoshop. I use a lot of photo manipulation on my original images.

Great hearing from you.

Hey nanu.

I have read some of bartolome work before. I had a book that I cant remember what the titile was. I lend it to some and that peson never gave it back. I lost contact with him. Like you I couldnt read it as much as I wanted. It was very upsetting. Got me very mad. Filled my heart with hate. But I do want to fiinsh reading "the account of the indies"

You wrote " Remember, Juan, that nothing exists in a bubble- everything is related and connected."

Indeed, I just happen to be more intersted in the anthropoligical, archoeligical and history part of native people. As soon as I am dont reading de las casas book I will resume "red earth"

Hey Nanu,

I picked up that book you mentioned and I also bought a book called "Bartolome de las casas-Ashort account of the destruction of the indies" In that book they have a new updated cover. It not the same one if you look it up on amazone. I really like this new cover. There are taino bunch of tainos coming down the mountain. On the side you have spaniords with sord and rifile keeping them in line. Very upseting to see things like this in a drawing. But anyways what I found intersting is that the taio's in the cover are of diffrent complextion. There are some with dark brown, light brown, yellowish, and even the same complextion as the european. I actually belive that this is a good repesentation. I mean if the haplogrup found in present tainos deccendants have sighns of floridian indians, cherokee, mayan and other indians. It would be obvous that because of this mixing of diffrent indigenous people we would not look alike including complextoin. I read some where that one of the spaniords wrote that some of the indians had the complextion of close to europeans. At this time there was obviosly no admixture. I know we have disagreed before on this subject. But I will stick to that there may be tainos who are pure or close to pure living in any of the three islands. And not only that. That taino deccendans may not be as mixed as they actually think they are.

But anyways I did read a bit of the other book. The first pages its very political stuff. That kinda turning me off. I am going to stick with it and see if the author goes a bit more into his debunking science.

Ok, he doesnt debunk the asian orgin. Right now the asian orgin is the best explanation we got. I mean many asian traits are shared my indigenous people. Even us tainos who suppose to be so mixed still have strong mongloid traits.

Anyways did you finish reading it?
At 9:51pm on November 26, 2008, Juan Almonte said…
Hey Nanu, I read some of the customer reviews. Intersting, I will diffently get this book. Question. One of the comments talks about how the book debunks the theory that indigenous people have asian ancestory. Is that true, You know. I read alot of anthropolgy stuff. I actually also dont some comparsing between myself and asians. Many features are very similar. Including those so called indian teeth (shovel shaped teeth) Those features are mongloids traits. Thats why asians have them too.

What are you thoughts on the above. But like I said I diffently am going to pick up a copy this week.

Hey Nanu, I heard of that book. I will diffently get a copy. Question, do they mention tainos in it?
