Hey nice pictures. I see many tainos from boriken, cuba and my kiskeya. After meeting a few north idigenous people ( inuets, eskimos, navajos, cheerokees etc etc etc. Whos complextion vary even thought they are have no admixture) I am amazed how native tainos still look. I am starting to think that we may be less mix that people including tainos think we are. Taino cultures is so strong that even on the population who are not of taino deccent they too practice the cultures.

But anyways just passing by to say thanx for uplaoding those pictures.
  • Juan Almonte

    sorry for the bad spelling.

Hey sister thanx for the frienship request.

I saw the list of books you left on ruben comment box. I have one of them Taino: Pre-Columbian Art and Culture from the Caribbean.Very good book. I also have a book called taino rise and decline of the taino people who greeted columbus by irving rouse.I found that book very hard to follow. I was not to crazy about it.

I am going to purchase 1- "Tainos y Caribes" (las culturas aborigenes antillanas) - Sebastian Ribou Lamarche, 2005, ISBN=0-9746236-3-6. The english version

    You mentioned
4- "Arqueologia Prehistorica De Santo Domingo" - Dr. Marcio V. Maggiolo, 1972.

Does that book mentioned taino warriors like enriquillo, hatuey etec etc. Or is it a repeat of the other books. I ask cause i most likely going to have to purchase it online. You see not that many taino books on the native american section here in NY. I dont think I even saw it in the native american mussuem book section were my good taino friend from kiskeya works at.

Anyways your responce is appricated cause i just would buy a book that tell me the same thing that other will.

I recently purched a book with bartolme del las casas note. Its a mini book. That I will start reading shortly. I will let you know how good it is.
  • Juan Almonte

Not sure if you read my profile both my parents are from kiskeya cibao region. When I went to vacation to see my grandparents I lost a book with that same title. Thanx for finding it. Can you please return it to me.

How sad is that a book that you say is so good was in the trash. My parents are planing to go to DR in a few months. I will see if they can search for that book for me.

But thanx for the list you gave ruben I will se if I can get a few of those. Did you ever read the irving rouse book?
  • Juan Almonte

I speak spanish fluently but have difulclty reading it. But I can. So if its not in english its not great but its not the end of the world.
  • Juan Almonte

Sorry you missunderstood me. I actually did not enjoy The book I mentioned by irving rouse. I found it very hard to read. So I dont recomended it. But if you read it and can learn from it that be great.
  • Nick Rojas

    Tau sister,
Thank You for the add...I am very intrigued by your pictures...they are beautiful and really inspire me to imagine what life for our Ancestors really must have looked like. Thank You for that...and for all that you do as a strong Taina. I would hope one day to be a part of something as beautiful as you towards advancing our peoples place in the circle or Indigenous Peoples!

I basically did it on a whim. So in essence it would be a tradition I added this year. Hopefully it will continue to grow as the years pass by, GOD willingly of course.

    Tau Sister
These last group of photos that you posted have to be the most beautiful and inspiring of the whole awesome bunch that have appeared in your gallery so far. The images of the beautiful pregnant sister and the strong handsome waribo are reminiscent of images of Ata Bey as an expecting mother and Yoka Hu as the protective father that we see in ancient taino art all the time. Thank you so very much for sharing these with us and thank these wonderful relatives who are pictured in these images for allowing us into their sacred world.

Jalil
